Key West, Florida Keys - Motorcyclists from throughout the United States are to travel one of America’s most scenic highways for charity starting Thursday, Sept. 18, during the 36th annual Key West Poker Run.
Riders on as many as 10,000 bikes are expected to traverse the Overseas Highway (U.S. Highway 1), which stretches 113 miles from mainland Florida to Key West and crosses 42 bridges — one of them nearly seven miles long. The Atlantic Ocean lies on one side of the highway, with Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico on the other, providing Poker Run participants breathtaking vistas of open sea and sky.

Pompano Beach, FL - The Hillsboro Lighthouse is offering a tour of the Lighthouse at Hillsboro Inlet, Saturday August 16 from 8:45 am to 3 pm. The tour is sponsored by the Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society, the society offers up to four tours per year. There are 18 points of interest featured during the tour and visitors will be able to climb the lighthouse.
Tours require joining the The Hillsboro Lighthouse Preservation Society for $25 annually or $35 for families. Corporate and lifetime memberships are also available. To find out more visit their website.

Marathon, Florida Keys - A multiagency safe-diving initiative designed to enhance sport diving and boating safety is to be highlighted at the second annual Lobster Rodeo & Dive Safety Expo set for Sunday, July 27.
The free event is to be staged on Knight’s Key, mile marker 47 at the Seven Mile Bridge, three days prior to the July 30 opening of Florida’s two-day lobster miniseason - a period that traditionally attracts large numbers of divers to the Keys.

Key West, Florida Keys - The late Mel Fisher, one of the 20th century’s best-known shipwreck salvors, is to be honored with a Key West festival that also commemorates the 23rd anniversary of his most famous find.
Mel Fisher Days is set to begin Thursday, July 17, and continue through Sunday, July 20 — the anniversary of Fisher’s discovery of the shipwrecked Spanish treasure galleon Nuestra Señora de Atocha in the waters off Key West.
