London Symphony Orchestra Members to Perform in Daytona Beach Through July 28th

July 17th, 2007

Daytona Beach, FL - The Florida International Festival has selected the winners of the LSO on Call program. Sponsored by Black Crow Media and Hometown News, the program involves select members of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) who will give private performances for four area residents who love classical music, but are unable to attend concerts due to illness, disability, or other special circumstances.

Central Florida residents nominated neighbors and friends by submitting an essay explaining their circumstances. The four winners were chosen based on the nature of their situation and how integral music has been to their lives. Each of the winners will be treated to an hour-long concert by two LSO musicians. The winners and private concert dates are: The Care Center of Ormond Beach (7/19); Audrey Roseborough of DeLand (7/23); Emory L. Bennett Memorial Veteran’s Nursing Home in Daytona Beach (7/24); and Edwy Haines of Ormond by the Sea (7/28).

“This is a wonderful program for some of our local music-lovers who are unable to enjoy the concert-going experience,” said Eric. “This program is also a testament to the Festival’s goal to bring world-class music to as many people as possible, and to the orchestra’s commitment to our community.”

The 2007 Florida International Festival began on July 13 and will continue through July 28, and includes performances from various extraordinary artists during the 16-day music extravaganza. The Festival presents a variety of diverse, artistically brilliant live musical performances, ranging from orchestral to chamber music, from jazz to world beat, to dance to family favorites. Tickets may be purchased Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Festival Box Office, 212 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach, by calling the Box Office toll-free at (866) 849-0731 or by mailing in the ticket order form, which can be found online at www.fif-lso.org
