Bathtub Reef in Stuart; One of Florida’s Best Beaches
August 28th, 2007Stuart, FL - Stuart is home to one of the most remarkable beaches in Florida, aptly named Bathtub Reef Park. The reef itself is about 40 yards offshore and is partially exposed during low tide. The reef protects the shoreline from breaking waves and is a great place for small children to swim and feel comfortable.
Summer time at Bathtub Reef offers some of the best snorkeling north of the Keys. Snorkeling is best at high tide when the water is deeper and covers the reef. While we were there we saw many tropical fish as well as a few schools of 20-25 inch snook.
Bathtub Reef gets its name from the living reef found just offshore creating a calm area of shallow water resembling a bathtub. The area covers about 85 acres and runs from St. Lucie north about 1.4 miles.
Lifeguards on duty during daylight hours and there are facilities and a limited amount of parking.
Bathtub Reef Park is located just north of St. Lucie Inlet in Stuart, Florida.
