Florida Strawberry Festival Feb 28 - Mar 9 in Plant City

February 26th, 2008

Strawberries

Plant City, FL - The Florida Strawberry Festival will kick-off the 2008 season on Feb. 28. In order to ring in the new season right, the festival will offer great discounts and great musical entertainment.

Patrons of this year’s Florida Strawberry Festival will be surprised and impressed with the recent changes made to the festival, but still have the traditions that make the event memorable year-in and year-out.

The Florida Strawberry Festival will play host to about 325 vendors, everything from 400-thread count sheets to hand-made gold and silver jewelry. The festival administration strives all year long to bring in new vendors to appeal to a wide variety of patrons.

While the festival looks to bring in new vendors, the administration is well aware of the patron favorites including a piled-high half-foot strawberry shortcake, foot-long corn dogs and fresh strawberry lemonade.

For patrons planning to stock-up on their strawberry-infused jewelry, there will be plenty of vendors, new and old, bringing their artistic spin on our favorite regional berry. There will be something for everyone with prices ranging from $3 and higher.

The 73rd Annual Florida Strawberry Festival starts offering great discounts before arriving at the festival grounds. For those who buy in advance, adult tickets are discounted by $2 and children’s tickets are discounted $1.

On Feb. 28, seniors 60 years of age and older will save $2 off gate admission and enjoy a free entertainment show at the Southern Chevy Soundstage as Jimmy Sturr & Orchestra take the stage for a special performance.

Following the performance, seniors will have the opportunity to win money during the Senior Citizens’ Day cash prize giveaway. Four winners will receive $300 total in cash. Two winners will receive $100 and two others will receive $50. To participate in the event, patrons will need to register at the designated booth near the Southern Chevy Dealer’s Soundstage.

The savings do not stop at the festival’s Senior Citizens’ Day specials. Patrons who crave a rush can purchase a Ride-A-Thon wristband for $17 and ride unlimited mechanical rides for one low price from 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

That is not all. Don’t forget about the festival’s tradition of delivering widely acclaimed musical entertainment schedule. Bobby Vinton “the all-time most successful love singer of the ‘Rock-Era’ will take to the Southern Chevy Dealer’s Soundstage at 3:30 p.m. Vinton has over a dozen gold albums and over 75 million records for his notable classics such as “Roses are Red,” “Blue Velvet,” “Mr. Lonely” and the hit classic “My Melody of Love.”

At 7:30 p.m. twice Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling artist, Josh Turner, best known for hit songs such as the “Barry White Country Song,” “Your Man,” “Me and God” and “Would You Go with Me,” will take the stage. Opening Day is something you don’t want to miss. We look forward to seeing you at the festival. More at www.flstrawberryfestival.com.
