Delta 2 to Launch GLAST Wednesday

GLAST - The first half of the payload fairing is moved into place around NASA’s GLAST within the mobile service tower on Launch Pad 17-B at CCAFS.Cape Canaveral, FL - The launch of NASA’s GLAST spacecraft aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket is scheduled to launch during a window that extends from 11:45 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. EDT.

NASA’s Gamma-Ray Large Area Space Telescope (GLAST) is a powerful space observatory that will open a wide window on the universe. Gamma rays are the highest-energy form of light, and the gamma-ray sky is spectacularly different from the one we perceive with our own eyes.
