Moms Boycott Staycations
July 20th, 2008What began with high gas prices has Moms everywhere in an uproar. “Staycations” as they’ve been called, are the answer to sky-high gas prices, where the family stays home and enjoys their surroundings.
But Moms everywhere are putting their foot down and taking no part in all the extra cooking and cleaning generated by family members sunning by the kiddy pool.
Stop the Staycation
Two popular women’s vacation websites are leading a call to “Stop Staycations”. Bev Sanders, founder of Manifesta Safaris says, “Staycations may be fun for kids, but who does the laundry, cooks the meals, and makes the beds? Ask any woman and she’ll tell you that perpetual housekeeping does not provide what we all need — a rejuvenating, getaway vacation,” argues Sanders. “Besides, skipping vacations is unhealthy, and health is something moms take seriously.” While the Traveling Mamas think it’s brilliant to “explore your own backyard,” they believe that actually getting in the car and over-nighting someplace other than your own home is important — even necessary.
