Kennedy Space Center, FL - Friday, I had the chance to view America’s military air capabilities in a preview of the Aerial Salute to 50 Years in Space during the World Space Expo at Kennedy Space Center. It was the coolest.

U.S. Air Force 920th Rescue Wing, based at Patrick Air Force Base, performed a sea rescue and refueling demonstrations. The team consist of a HC-130 and two HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters.

The U.S. Navy demonstrated the capabilities of the U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet, a carrier based strike-fighter.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds were the highlight of the show and performed precision air maneuvers in their F-16Cs.

Fort Myers, FL - A historic riverfront home located next door to the Henry Ford estate in downtown Fort Myers is for sale. Over $2 million has been spent restoring and renovating the Mediterranean-style home since it was last sold in 2001. Ironically, the home’s owners in the 1960s once considered tearing it down to make way for a high-rise before neighbors banded together to save the property.
McMurray & Nette VIP Realty Group, Inc., recently listed the home for $5.1 million. “This home is a part of Fort Myers’ rich past and an opportunity to own such a piece of history does not come along very often,” said Mike McMurray, managing partner of McMurray & Nette.

In Venice Florida, a golfer came face to face with a hazard at the sixth hole of a Lake Venice Golf Course and was bitten on the left arm by an 11-foot gator.
Near Daytona Beach in Volusia County a dolphin was rescued by SeaWorld in Turnbull Bay.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will host a bald eagle draft management plan public workshop early next month as bald eagle numbers are improving and the FWC is considering removing them from the state endangered species list.

In Florida wildlife encounters are easy to come by as there are many natural places available to the public where visitors may interact with both native and non-native species. However sometimes residents find alligators in their pool and rabid bobcats when you retrieve garbage cans.
In Cocoa a six foot gator was trapped after taking a swim in an apartment complex pool after getting past a chained link fence.
A rabid bobcat attacked Wesley Chapel resident Dale Rippy, a 62 year old Vietnam veteran, and not only did he stand his ground, he choked it to death.
And then there’s this story of a woman who was bit by a dolphin.

The 4 ½ foot long monitor lizard in the Lost Lake subdivision was sunbathing on the banks of a retention pond Sunday when a police officer took off two shots at the elusive reptile, but it is unknown if the lizard is dead or alive. The lizard has evaded police, wildlife officers and trappers for months. There was even a rumor of a $1,000 bounty on the monitor lizard.

450 Surfers attent the Southest Surfing Championships in New Symyrna just south of Daytona Beach. From From the competition that wraps up today, surfers can ride into the 2007 Eastern Surfing Championships, known as the Easterns, which could ultimately lead to the USA Surfing Championships.

There was another shark attack near New Smyrna Beach, the shark “ripped open his left hand and incurred serious injury to the thumb and first two fingers” according to his grandmother. New Smyrna Beach is just south of Daytona Beach.
