Cocoa Beach, FL - Early Saturday morning on the south side of the Cocoa Beach Pier I photographed the Lost Beverage Men’s $5,000 Short Board Open and the Ron Jon Easter Bunny Skim Bash. It was early and the sun was low and shining right in my face but it was the only chance I had to get photos of the Cocoa Beach surfing and skim board contest.

St. Augustine, FL - We recently traveled to St. Augustine to gather new content for PlacesAroundFlorida.com and took pictures galore. After an afternoon of wandering through the St. Augustine Historic District surrounded by many fine restaurants, we were starving.
We decided to try Scarlett O’Hare’s Bar and Restaurant. It was a great choice and with a unique decor and menu. We shared a Slab of Ribs and Grilled Mahi Mahi Sandwich, both were very tasty. For dessert we split a Key Lime Pie, it too was delicious.
They have a full liquor bar and we enjoyed cocktails named “The Scarlett O’Hare” in their “Ghost Bar”, which is listed in the National Directory of Haunted Places and is said to be haunted by the man who built the house. Visit their website at www.scarlettoharas.net.

Kennedy Space Center, FL - Friday, I had the chance to view America’s military air capabilities in a preview of the Aerial Salute to 50 Years in Space during the World Space Expo at Kennedy Space Center. It was the coolest.

U.S. Air Force 920th Rescue Wing, based at Patrick Air Force Base, performed a sea rescue and refueling demonstrations. The team consist of a HC-130 and two HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters.

The U.S. Navy demonstrated the capabilities of the U.S. Navy F-18 Super Hornet, a carrier based strike-fighter.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds were the highlight of the show and performed precision air maneuvers in their F-16Cs.

Key West, Florida Keys - When internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett wrote “I Have Found Me a Home” about Key West, he described riding his old red bike to “the bars and the beaches of my town.” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 1-4, the island popularly credited as the inspiration for his hit party anthem “Margaritaville” is to host as many as 3,500 of the entertainer’s Parrot Head fans for their 16th annual Meeting of the Minds convention.
The 2007 convention is themed “Barefootin’ Key West,” commemorating Buffett’s rendition of “Barefootin’” on the soundtrack to the 2006 film “Hoot.”

Daytona Beach, FL - This year we visited Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona during Biketoberfest and it was one of the best events of the year. Destination Daytona is an excellent venue for Biketoberfest and Bike Week. With over 150 acres of space, the location is ideal for all the things a biker would love including bikini contest, live music, beer babes, vendors displays and product demonstrations.
There was plenty of parking for bikes and cars, trams transported visitors from remote parking areas. It was a first class effort with the Volusia County Sheriff Department providing excellent traffic control.
