Anthony from valet is the reason why I gave this place more stars than I should have. He was attentive, understanding, and a hard worker. He truly is an asset to the company. He worked the night shift by himself but the day shift valet attendants…. Rude and unhelpful. Parking situation is a mess when it’s forced valet
The breakfast and set up was almost a mess. Toaster took 10mins to toast, stations out of organization, free breakfast options not great
The room was nice for what it was, I’ve had more spacious suites before but it was not a big deal. Location also great!
We were fortunate enough to stay the first weekend this hotel opened. The staff and management were absolutely fantastic!
The room itself was a decent size. We had a king bed and the trundle sofa worked well for our kids. The trundle can be a bit finicky to get back in; we learned you have to lift it slightly to put it back but it might be because it’s new and needs some time to break it in. The refrigerator wasn’t cold, but again it was a brand new room and it cooled down after a bit. It’s just something to be aware of when you check in to make sure to put the temp down if you need it.
One other consideration is the bathroom. It is a combo shower/toilet/sink style (not a separate vanity) and the sliding door has a large glass insert. That makes getting ready while others sleep in the morning a challenge because the light is pretty bright. I didn’t try it, but perhaps a towel hung over it might help block the light but if you’ll be traveling with anyone on different schedules, a sleep mask might be called for!
Breakfast was well done, with a variety pf hot options every morning (pancakes, egg “McMuffin”
type sandwiches one morning and mini quiches and scrambled eggs another) we were there along with some standard offerings, including cereal, yogurt, make your own oatmeal with lots of toppings, bacon, and hard boiled eggs. And of course the ever important coffee! The breakfast staff were super helpful and kind as well!
My kiddos tried the pool the first day and gave it a thumbs up (my husband said it was too cold and I was out for work so missed the fun). I did get to try out the gym, which had some good cardio options, a dumbbell set, and a weight machine. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a water bottle filler right there with cups and they also offered single-use ear buds for the cardio entertainment options. Also wipes to clean the machines which I was happy to see (and use)!
The location is better than I expected. Only a couple of blocks from the Straz Center and down a bit from Curtis Hixon, which makes it really walkable. There are two bars; we tried the pool/rooftop bar and the bartenders were great and the weather in the evening was perfect for a relaxing drink.
Overall, though, it’s the people who made our stay exceptional. They really take pride in their hotel and it is evident in every single interaction.
Great hotel! Brand New!!
