We chose this company based on the reviews for a project before Hurricane Helene. Our home was flooded so it turned into a remediation project with the idea of tearing down the flooded home and building a custom. After paying over $9k for plans we were looking into starting demo. Home Love’s quote to tear down a 1,600 sq ft home was $45,000!! They told us they did quality demo work and weren’t in the business of comparing prices. ITS DEMO we don’t need quality. The builders we are using now are charging $10,250 for the exact same tear down. Huge red flag was set off!! I went back and looked at previous invoices for the remediation and found a change order for over $4,000 to remove plaster floor to ceiling which they told us we needed because plaster was more absorbent. We are not contractors so weren’t aware that plaster is able to be dried out better than dry wall. They cut the areas of drywall 4 ft but for the plaster they went floor to ceiling (see pictures), which was most of our home. Due to this our insurance company would not pay to repair it and it also put our home over the FEMA 49% rule. Awful how they treated us hurricane victims. They have previous complaints against them and we should have done a better job of reading into these reviews. IMO only the 1 stars are real. Do not walk but RUN from this company.

My wife and I began putting our trust into Home Love Construction in November 2024. From the beginning, we were promised good communication and work to be done in a timely manner. Unfortunately, that has been far from the case over the past 4 months with this company. To this point, we have paid Home Love Construction close to $40,000 and have had ZERO work done our home despite numerous people telling us that work would be done in a timely manner. We are now going into month number 5 working with this company and still do not have a timeline as to when work will be started or completed. We are constantly getting the run around from people who work for Home Love and every now and then we will be introduced to a “new project manager” or a “new staff member” to help us. However, we are continuously faced with new challenges and more excuses as to why our work has not been started yet. Back in December, our permits were not submitted correctly and it took until January to have them submitted correctly. It took over 6 weeks to have permits submitted and approved because this company couldn’t figure it out. Also, not to mention, this company has a significant amount of fake reviews. There was a period of time when a ton of generic reviews were submitted because the company was trying to get to “600 reviews”. If you scroll back, you will see how generic and robotic the reviews sound. Moral of the story: Be aware. This company will present themselves as communicative, fast moving, etc. They will send you a gift after they first meet with you and take your money. Then you will be ghosted for months and provided with excuse after excuse as to why work has not started. We put our TRUST and MONEY into this company and have not seen a single result yet. When will they show us something? I’m not quite sure. I hope to come back here at some point with photos and an updated review. But as of today, I would NOT recommend this company to anyone looking for general contracting work. We are beyond displeased and expect better after all the money we have put into this.
