I was here for a Mammogram that was ordered by my doctor. After waiting almost an hour past my appointment time to be seen, I was taken back by a technician name Claudia. Instead of introducing herself when walking in the room she immediately started drilling me with questions about my family history and medical form. She was short with me and it became obvious she was just trying to rush me out. She informed me that I needed a different type of diagnostic test from what my doctor ordered and that she would not be doing any test on me today. Her tone was condescending and impatient and made me feel like she was talking to a child. I’ve had multiple women in my family with breast cancer, I’ve lost a cousin to breast cancer and currently have an aunt battling stage 4 breast cancer. This appointment alone was scary to show up to, I never would have expected to be treated with this little of compassion and patience. All I wanted to do was get the test done that my doctor ordered and when I asked follow up questions she didn’t want to answer she told me that I could speak with her manager and rushed me back into a waiting room. I waited uncomfortably in a dressing gown and a manager never came to see me. I requested my paperwork from the technician when I saw her again, which she grabbed from her manager (who still never came out to see me) and left. I’m extremely disturbed by this level of care, and won’t be returning to this location. As someone who has worked in healthcare, I can’t imagine ever speaking to a patient the way I was spoken to nor would I ever expect the lack of sensitivity I experienced during this visit.
Went to TGH Urgent Care with my wife, was told she needed X-rays to check for pneumonia so we were referred here. Told it would be about 45 minutes, after 1 1/2 hours they told us we “weren’t allowed” to have an X-ray without authorization from our primary care and would have to come back another day. First off we didn’t even WANT the X-rays, TGH said we NEEDED them, otherwise we would’ve just grabbed our prescription and went home. Secondly, unless one of these two facilities isn’t actually run by TGH, that means YOU asked us to get X-rays from YOURSELF then tried to argue it wasn’t authorized. Urgent Care was great and had no issues, gonna go give them 5 stars now, Imaging however needs a massive overhaul. And before some auto-reply response tells me to “call our number” or “email our service line”, no, I shouldn’t have to tell you what to do better, just BE better (2/6/25, 1:45pm)
The management there makes her elderly employees the public face of the issues. I arrived earlier than expected, only to be informed that my appointment had been canceled. No emails or texts relaying that information.
I have used Tower as a patient for several years due to insurance preference and my doctors are at TGH so have a My Chart account. The good news is your doctor can upload your orders and you book an appointment directly in MYCHART. The bad is if your doctor wants your test right away you can only book starting 7 days out in Mychart. I had to call Tower and was able to get the appointment at this location before the 7 days.
I arrived at the office and it was hectic and crowded with people. I only had to wait for one person before checking in and the front desk people were great and prompt. I waited a bit for my technician and that is when there were issues. I had my orders with me and the technician took me to a waiting room in the back and kept asking me why my doctor wanted the test and was confused I had another test scheduled next year that was similar but not the same. She kept saying couldn’t do it and I kept saying my doctor wanted it done. before my next day’s appointment as treating an acute issue. I finally said I am not sure what you are asking me and asked if they could speak to my doctor’s office and told me they could not. Coincidentally when the technician left the room my doctor’s office called to remind me of my appointment and I was able to get the nurse on the line. When the technician returned put the call on speaker and asked the technician what information she needed as had doctor’s nurse on the phone and then told me no problems. This confusion took 10 – 15 minutes and no insurance issues or anything – just odd. I would not want to return to this location and would avoid if possible. I was happy that test results loaded same night and doctor was able to view next day for my appointment. Please note parking seems adequate but not bountiful and some crazy drivers in the lot. Easy to find on Habana – recommend you reserve an appointment as others seemed to be waiting a long time.
Awful MRI experience here. I’ve had M.S. for 21 years and have had MRIs done on my brain, neck and spine at many, many different facilities over the years in multiples states and this was by far the WORST experience of the bunch.
They kept me inside the MRI for a full HOUR with no break and almost no communication. When they slide me inside, she initially said, okay these pictures will take 10 minutes but then after that I was left wondering for an interminable period of time when on earth I would get a break so I could move and scratch some itches and get the blanket off of me because it was VERY HOT inside the MRI.
Finally they took me out after an hour to inject contrast and when I complained that I was in there too long, the MRI tech claimed that this is the protocol and it’s impossible to give breaks etc, etc. Well, perhaps that is the protocol of THIS PLACE but it isn’t the protocol everywhere because I’ve done the same MRIs in many different places and I’ve never had to be inside for more than about a half hour at a time before.
A few days before, I got the brain MRI done at the Lois Ave. location and that place is WAY BETTER! Much quieter waiting room (not tons of people talking loudly on phones, watching shows without headphones, etc) and overall nicer and more professional. The poor quality of the office makes you feel like you are visiting a doctor’s office in a developing country. Additionally, if you care about such things, the protocol at this place is to put an IV in you if you’re getting contrast prior to entering the MRI room. At Lois Ave. location they don’t do that. In fact, there was no IV at all, just a little butterfly stick with the contrast which barely even felt like a pinch. So if you don’t want an IV and you want to be treated better, go to Lois Ave location or another facility altogether.
