I agree with the other folks on this site. This place is horrible. From walking into the place, you are watched like you are going to do something fishy. Then if you want to touch a dog, they keep you from touching them. If you fill out an application, you never hear back even though you have a current vet, fenced yard and have all the love to give. You take the time to fill out the application and they ghost you. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. They do not want to be a shelter, they want to keep the dogs as long as possible or they give them to just their friends. I am a former volunteer there, it has gotten so much worse. GO TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY IN TAMPA. They treat you with respect and love the animals and want to give them homes.
This place is a waste of time. I suggest adopting from the Tampa Bay Humane Society, where the place is clean and you aren’t left hanging on whether you’re good enough. This place is a joke.. you would think they would want the animals to go to good homes but instead they are playing games. Got a bad vibe from the dumpy facility.
We felt such love picking up our new kittens, we thought we were just going to get one, but we couldn’t leave his sister behind. The staff were so friendly and welcoming!
I went to the shelter to look at a young dog who had been there two years. I wanted him. He was perfect
I filled out paperwork and was asked to submit all records to my previous dog who I had cared, working with my vet for the final two years of his life (with disease and old) but loved dearly to his death. I went home and after a week of waiting, sent the shelter a letter of hope & expectant joy in adopting. Couldn’t wait to hear! I waited 12 days and called to check up on the application. I was told the puppy “had been adopted a week ago”. This was traumatic. No response, NO communication to me. The dog had been there two years and “suddenly’ adopted. I am so disheartened by this and the people at this shelter.
This place is so clean and has the best service! We came here looking to get a puppy and they were so nice to us. They showed us all of our options and let us pick. We filled out an adoption form and let them do the rest! We now have two wonderful puppies taken in from Care! When we got the puppies they even gave us a whole entire bag of things for the puppies from food, toys, and even ticks and flea control pills! Definitely come here to adopt!
