I just finished the week-long Beginning Woodwork Workshop and found it to be an outstanding experience. The instructors were skilled and approachable, taking the time to clearly explain techniques and ensuring everyone felt comfortable using the tools. Despite my limited background in woodworking, their demonstrations and step-by-step guidance made the learning process easy to follow and highly effective. The school’s facilities are organized and well-equiped. I look forward to attending more advanced courses very soon. Kate and Andrew are wonderful teachers who are clearly passionate about their work and about passing knowledge on to their students.
Kate was an amazing, professional, humorous instructor on woodworking! The class was very professional and good size. The school shld look into making a program who wants to learn more about woodworking, maybe making it a business learning enough classes in about 1 yrs time for approximately $6–$8K earning a certificate proficiency in woodworking. I absolutely loved this class as I took it not feeling well as I injured my right knee using a cane. I look fwd on taking more classes at the amazing Florida school of woodwork!
Wow. What a phenomenal workshop this weekend. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth your time and money? Absolutely. You walk away with so much knowledge that will probably fuel a lifetime of projects. Be prepared to have a good time at a world class workshop. Every tool imaginable is at your disposal. Overall, an incredibly enjoyable weekend, no matter what skill level you arrive with. Kate is an absolutely incredible teacher. She has a relaxed and charming exterior encasing a wealth of knowledge which she shares readily with her students.
I recently attended two weeks of classes at the Florida School of Woodwork, and it was an absolutely transformative experience! In the box-making class, I learned various techniques, from joinery to design principles, and left with 3 beautifully crafted boxes that I proudly made myself. The beginner woodworking class further expanded my skills through hands-on projects, allowing me to gain confidence in my abilities and techniques in a supportive environment.
One of the highlights was the in-depth instruction on different finishing methods tailored to the function of each wood furnishing. This knowledge completely changed my perspective on applying finishes, enabling me to achieve a flawless look that enhances my projects. The combination of expert guidance and a vibrant community made my time there unforgettable. I can’t recommend the Florida School of Woodwork enough and am already planning my next class!
A great class. Not only did we learn safe and effective techniques for routers we learned about dadoes and grooves and rabbits. The extent of instructor Andrew Gibson’s knowledge and experience was extraordinary. Another great value from the Florida school of woodwork.
