My mother was placed here by Tampa general for rehabilitation of mass trauma wounds, and it has been disheartening to say the least. One nightmare scenario after another, I have documented the short comings/ borderline malpractice of some of the staff and the poor state of the facility itself. From just not doing her scheduled wound care to allowing her colostomy bag to literally explode and several times rupture actually causing an infection in her leg wounds which wasn’t discovered until her room smelled of the infection. Her therapy bed which is filled with sand also ruptured from a nurses mishandling and my mother was forced to sit with open wounds in over 3 inches of loose sand for almost 18 hours before they finally moved her into another. By then the sand had filled into her leg wound so much they were forced to suction and clean it out. She has not been properly bathed in the entire time since being admitted. The two rooms she’s been in so not have working air conditioning (she was moved from one for the same reason, only for the other to have the same exact issue) she is constantly sweating leaving her bandages and the wound itself moist all the time. Not all her caregivers are terrible, but most can’t answer basic questions that we have, or refer us to wait for someone who speaks English. Coming on here to rant is not my intention, I just want her to have the care and treatment she deserves. Minus a few of the rotating nurses the hospital staff is mostly friendly but ineffectual at getting work orders through and actually having problems solved. The care she’s been given is absolutely disgraceful and if it is not remedied my family is looking into possible litigation for neglect and malpractice
Dorothy my nurse has been an outstanding supervisor and employee. She goes our of her way to ensure your comfort. Sharon supervisor too! I have been in several different facilities and the kitchen here has the best food. I’ve been a chef for 45 years and this facility has great quality food! The wound care team here is top notch too!
I have been attempting to reach Jason in Case Management and he refuses to return calls or respond to emails. After speaking with him directly, he completely disregarded family and patient wishes and choice to follow a path that he wanted – “as he stated we should be grateful for what is offered to us for placements” – even after acknowledging alter facilities could not meet her demanding medical needs. After speaking with his superior Tangela, she was able to offer the support and resources that my family was needing. I strongly encourage to work directly with Tangela over Jason!
The staff here is so great! Luciana is the best! I love her! She is very caring and compassionate and went out of her way to talk with me and very respectful. I would love to see her again before I leave, I got moved and she’s not on this floor. Overall facility the been good. I would just say that Dr.Atigrue doesn’t spend enough time in the room when he rounds. Makes me feel like he doesn’t have time to answer any of my questions.
No one is ever happy to have a family member in need of special care, but it helps so much when you feel like they are in good hands. I didn’t have a single interaction that was negative in any way. I thank the CNAs, nurses, therapists and all the staff for their kindness and compassion. Specifically, I’d like to thank Talisha for her kindness and care- always going above and beyond what is expected. She brings a little something extra, a little sunshine and personal connection that didn’t go unnoticed. Leaving your loved one is not easy- but when she is there, I feel more at ease and that is priceless! It takes a special person to do her job and I hope she knows how much it is appreciated.
