I wanted to take a moment to review this hotel. We were so impressed with how friendly and welcoming the staff was. The hotel is in a great location in downtown with many restaurants within walking distance, which made exploring super easy.
I highly recommend visiting Jorge in the restaurant he was our server for breakfast. He was amazing!! Not only did he explain the menu & gave us great suggestions, be he also shared a bit about Tampa. I would definitely come back just because of the incredible service we experienced here.
Positives: Nice hotel, and friendly staff in a historic building. Well done rooms and beds.
Missed opportunities: Renovating a historic courthouse into a hotel is a challenge for sure. The missed opportunities: hotel lobby entrance is on the lower level side of the building and feels like you are coming in through a basement. It feels like it deserves something more grand.
The upper level marble floors and hallways are well preserved but feel cold and well like an old courthouse office. Improvements such as carpet runners and dimmer lighting would make it feel more cozy and less office cold like. Add some historic pictures of judges and others who have passed through the doors. Tell the story of the building!
Location is OK, but not ideal when compared to the other major hotel brands in the area closer to the waterfront.
The Le Méridien Tampa, The Courthouse did not live up to its 4-star rating. The hotel felt incredibly tired, with none of the charm or character you would expect from a historic courthouse conversion. Instead of a unique, stylish atmosphere, everything just felt old and worn out.
The rooms were disappointingly small, and the bedding was subpar—not at all the level of comfort expected from a hotel in this category. Overall, the accommodations lacked any sense of luxury or attention to detail.
The one bright spot of our stay was the valet staff, who were incredibly friendly and helpful. Their great service stood in stark contrast to the rest of the experience.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless significant updates are made. There are better options in Tampa for the price.
They failed to mention daily valet prices are $45+ until checkin. We also had to walk 2 miles with our kids in the middle of the day to get our own cars so we weren’t late to spring training baseball games 3 HOURS BEFORE. It took way too long to get any decent help with vehicle. If you are looking for easy parking, this is NOT the way to go. Especially with young children And we rolled our own luggage out during checkout- no carts or help available to stand in the hot sun while waiting forever for our vehicles. Beautiful place, no so great customer service.
The building is great. It’s an old courthouse. I loved the high ceilings in the room, and the overall feel of the building. Unfortunately, the service was not great. It took a really long time for my breakfast to arrive after ordering, and no one came to check on me – e.g. to ask how I was doing and if I needed anything. I got better service at a local Tampa diner. The breakfast food was also not very good. It tasted very processed. Like they just heated up something. It was clearly not freshly made food. Hence, I probably won’t be returning to stay here. The service and food quality did not meet my expectations.
