Dr. Maldonado is absolutely amazing. Every time I have seen her, she has been very involved and concerned about ensuring she addresses all of my concerns about my health (even if it means sitting listening to me cry when I’m afraid). I cannot praise her enough. I have not had the best experiences with other doctors at USF, but Maldonado is a gem. If you’re able to handle the wait to see her (expect a good 6+ months!), she is absolutely worth it if you want real one on one, quality care. I wish there were more out there like her.
Waited 5 mo this for the appointment. Morning of staff contacts us for an authorization from our PCP. Related not necessary with our insurance. Staff said they would follow up. Two hours before the appointment we were told my son could not be seen because they could not get approval from someone in their office.
First and only telehealth visit was interrupted and never completed. Had to call and leave message to get additional info about visit. Prescribed medication without details. Learned several side effects associated with medication. Had to call and leave messages about this, only to be told a message would be given to Dr. Maldonado. Never received a response. Stopped taking medication as it made my condition worse. Had to follow-up with messages to TGH Headache Clinic as information requested by insurance was not being responded to. Messages were not always returned. Unable to determine if issues were TGH, USF, staff, or Dr. Maldonado. Patient care certainly is not a priority, but money is. Was billed by USF and TGH for an incomplete office visit. Was also prescribed another medication that no one there knew anything about. Had to research this medication myself. There was also an issue with how to get the medication. I gave the information to them, but was advised a committee was meeting weekly to.discuss how to get the medication. It never should have been prescribed if no one knew anything about it. I spent 2 months trying to work with them, which was a waste of time. I could have seen another neurologist that had an interest in helping patients. Would never recommend TGH Headache Clinic (now under a different name and location, but still affiliated with TGH), Dr. Maldonado, or any other USF physicians based on my experience. Other USF physicians previously associated with TGH Headache Clinic had questionable reviews. If you don’t have concerns about your healthcare and like to leave messages that don’t get returned, and waste money and time, get the runaround, maybe this is a provider you would want to see if you want and expect zero results.
