Came in for a vball tournament. Decent airport. Have to take a short tram from your plane to baggage claim. If you are looking for a decent non fast food meal would recommend eating at in the main part of the airport. Food inside the terminals is mostly fast food. The big flamingo when you walk into the main entrance is good for a family pic.
Don’t forget your suntan lotion!
This airport is designed efficiently. Rental car pick up and drop off is easy. Getting to your gate is well marked out with easy to follow signs. The staff are next to none
We found this airport to be incredibly organized and well laid out. The free above ground tram/train quickly takes you to the parking structure, bag collection area, check in and also car rental area.
We traveled by Porter airlines and the whole process at the TPA was relatively easy. We did find it a little stressful with a bit of pressure with everything happening so fast during the security screening with our 2 year old toddler but it was due to our stroller/baby formula/extra baby bags. Be ready to collapse your stroller quickly and have that baby formula ready for inspection!
I travel every weekend. Yes, you read correctly, every weekend back and forth to TPA.
I can say that it’s very clean, organized and efficient indeed.
Haven’t had any problems yet, and I don’t anticipate any.
They make it easy to go to the main hub area and then go to your terminal from there.
Verity of shops to buy food and accessories just in case if you forgot something at home. Enjoy traveling!
Easy to navigate, great airport whether you’re flying or picking up/dropping off.
I’ve always had to use the shuttle/train to access my gate, but it’s quick and runs constantly. There’s plenty of seating at the gates, signage is clear, and it’s always been clean. For the size of TPA, it doesn’t feel rundown or confusing like so many older and similar sized airports.
They also have the best cell phone lot I’ve ever had to use when waiting for someone at the airport. Parking is abundant, they have large, clean restrooms in the lot and a large flight board.
Rental car return is fairly simple and navigating to the garage is clearly marked. Depending on the way you approach the garage, it’s easy to miss the turn though.
