For Sunday lunch, we visited Timpano Hyde Park. Since we had made a reservation in advance, we were seated immediately upon arrival.
The ambiance and decor of the restaurant was impressive, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere with guests enjoying their meals.
Our server, Steven, greeted us and provided menus and water. Unsure about which appetizer to choose, we took his recommendation and ordered the Burrata. For our main courses, we went with: Funghi Crostini, Bucatini, Truffle Trotters.
The Burrata arrived first, and it was a standout dish–creamy, flavorful, and complemented perfectly by pistachios, cheese, and bread. It was one of the best appetizers we’ve had and set a great tone for the meal.
Next, our main courses arrived. The Truffle Trotters were a bit underwhelming, and we regretted not choosing Truffle Fries instead. However, the Funghi Crostini and Bucatini were well-prepared, delicious, and served in generous portions.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Timpano and had a great Sunday afternoon lunch.
Overall, it’s a good restaurant in a busy/ active location. The food takes a while to be brought out, but the taste makes up for it. I think the pesto is really good. The garlic flavor is very strong and the shrimp is cooked well. It might be loud in the restaurant but the seats, tables, and design is modern and traditional. It’s a good restaurant, and I highly recommend it.
I had high hopes for trying Timpano’s again after so many years. We ordered the calamari, beef carpaccio, and the tomahawk steak, which comes with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Now, this was on Christmas Eve so they did have the option to do their specific Christmas menu, which was cool however they would not allow for you to order anything off of the Christmas menu such as the soup or the stuffed leg of lamb. We decided to go with the tomahawk and I ordered it medium rare and it came out almost well closer to medium well so I had to send it back and by the time the new steak came, the person I was with was already full. We ended up taking it home. I don’t recommend this spot for more than drinks and maybe an appetizer. I will say that our server Ericka was really nice and did her best to make this dining experience better.
The Salmon was delicious and the smoke potatoes were unbelievably yummy. The place has a very nice ambiance. The waitress was respectful. This place needs some improvement: it tries to be upscale but it needs work. The most requested food was the pasta. The pasta was prepared in front of our table with hot hater, even with that when we ate it was cold as it was in the refrigerator. It was also not really cooked al dente. I asked for a glass of tab water without ice. The waitress brought a new pitcher when I looked at my water it had a big piece of ice on it.
Great food, very knowledgeable server, who was very friendly. Food was great and didn’t take long even though they were busy. Draft and bottled beer and yummy cocktails. I had the pappardelle pasta – it’s Bolognese, ground beef short rib and prosciutto. Very filling and enough for me to enjoy for lunch the next day. Hubby had the brunch burger – cooked as requested and upgraded to truffle fries. Yummy. We shared the tiramisu with espresso chocolate chip gelato to finish off a great lunch.
