Opened in place of the old fly bar Tori takes it up another level. First they did great job of changing the theme and upgrading the decor. Second the food comes out fast and fresh. A lot of the food is small plates. Third the cocktails are crafted expertly. When there are many people in the restaurant usually bar tenders do not get enough time to craft the drinks well. That was not the case here. Our server was attentive and checked up on us just the right amount. The only issue was that hostess who showed us to our seat was clearly bothered by something while she tried to help us and did not respond well when we asked a question.
The food is great here! We had the yellowtail crudo, the braised pork belly skewers, the Japanese fries, the grilled chicken skewers and the grilled scallops. My only issue is the happy hour menu is not really a deal. They don’t have any good cocktails on the happy hour menu and the price isn’t reduced much. The restaurant is very crowded and they don’t accept reservations.
Stopped here for drinks before heading out, enjoyed the vibe. The bar seemed to be a more lively and engaging than our service. Aside from that our drinks were delicious and the few appetizers we had were really good. The portions are on the smaller side for dinner.
As a neighbor I had to come and check it out why this place is always busy. The atmosphere is cool and the service was great! The food is good, the sushis are a bit different from what we are used to eat but it was a cool experience!
Tori Bar in Tampa is an absolute gem, offering an enchanting and vibrant atmosphere paired with an exceptional selection of Japanese tapas. Every dish was a delight, with flavors that left a lasting impression.
The Temaki selection—including Salmon & Avocado, Spicy Octopus, and Hokkaido Scallop with Truffle Paste—was outstanding, each bite bursting with freshness and umami. The Hokkaido Scallop Truffle Carpaccio and braised pork belly were incredibly tender, melting in your mouth with rich, savory goodness. The Mentaiko Fries and chicken Karaage also delivered a satisfying balance of flavors.
To complement the meal, the Matcha Martini and Matcha Crème Brûlée was a pleasant surprise—smooth, well-balanced, and a perfect twist on a classic.
Beyond the food, the service was impeccable—fast, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance inside and outside was fantastic, with great music setting the mood for an enjoyable night out.
