The library. University of South Florida Main Library consists of 6 floors. Each floor has offices/ study spaces/ books / computers/ group study rooms and etc. first two floors have computers and labs, there are open space groups study and closed rooms that are accessible after booking online getting keys on the first floor. Fifth floor is renovated and have nice study spaces and mostly allocated for quite study. There is a separate part for graduate student which is more comfortable. 3rd and 4th floors are relatively old, but there are seats and tables for study, although they are old. Overall, it is nice building with Starbucks on the ground floor. I have been here couple of times and I had language pass exam on the 6th floor before I start working as a TA.
Nowhere online did it say public use isn’t allowed from 9pm until 6am. Drove 30 minutes to get here to do some late studying.. Never to make it past the front door.
I love the library, but the daytime staff and specific policies must be revised. During finals week, kicking people out is unnecessary if they are quietly studying in a quiet study room. The two-person policy is primarily to prevent noise, but if there is no noise coming from the room, why is it a problem? I am a student trying to use my university’s resources and being punished for it in a rude manner. It’s finals, we are trying to study in a quiet room, what is the problem?
I ordered ahead. they cancelled the food item and didn’t tell me or give me the option to get something else. I was waiting at the counter for 12 minutes , and had to ask where the rest of my order is to find out they didn’t have it. If they didn’t have the food I wouldn’t have gotten the coffee, which is always nasty here. And I’d have to place a whole other order, and to have waited 30 min for the food. this starbucks always disappoints.
This facility of USF is absolutely outstanding . I would say its comparable to top 10 % of the schools in US .PRINTING , audio visual, disability, study aid facilities are topnotch.
Alumni membership fees are dirt cheap compared to the service provided. The best place to write your papers or assignments is definitely the 5th floor. The GIS, 3D printing facility in the 1st floor( not basement) is something I’ll miss . The collection of reading materials from advanced propulsion system to random comics to hurdred year
old newspapers are astounding. Starbucks was a regular go for my morning coffee.GO BULLS.
