This was the best medical experience of my life (human or animal) they quickly saved my baby’s life and provided some of the best care possible for both me and my cat. Somehow they made a terrifying situation comfortable and even fun at times as the entire staff was amazing at keeping morale up. Shout out to Mike specifically for managing to do the procedure well and keep me calm simultaneously. Genuinely love y’all, thank you with my entire heart
I took my dog there because they thought she had an obstruction and they decided to flush her out for a couple hours and ended up not having to do an endoscopy. They truly had her best interest at heart and truly wanted her to feel better. The pricing was very fair, and the experience was very comforting in a stressful time for my dog and I . The staff was truly amazing. I’ve never had an experience like that at an emergency vet. I definitely would choose them if I really had to go back again.
When my cat decided to stick his nose into a bouquet of lilies when I had just arrived into town, I very much was near a panic, but even from the first call, I felt like the VEG team was calming and knowledgeable and I felt very confident with bringing my cat in. I arrived around 2:30 am and was brought in very quickly and seen pretty immediately. I had tried cleaning him at home (little bugger was stained yellow already) and the team helped me to clean him up some more and they got to work. I felt reassured even while I was frantic, and I felt very confident that they quickly had the situation well in hand. They explained the process to come (several days with fluids) and they were able to adjust it to his chronic heart condition without any problem. They let me stay for as long as I could and I was grateful to be able to be with my cat during the stressful process, and they explained the steps as they did them, and let me sit in the room. They coordinated with my poison control case. When I left, I felt so confident in the team, and even over the next few days as I visited throughout the 48 hours and met a bunch of the other vets on staff, I couldn’t have asked for a more considerate crew. They did so much to make my cat comfortable even in the chaos of an emergency vet room, and they worked so hard to find food for him to eat (he doesn’t eat when he’s nervous) and let me sit with him and he did eat a little! They really did so much for him and I saw so many attempts to make him comfortable, to distract him from the pain of a blood draw, to making a little “charcuterie board” of things for him to try, giving him a blanket/towel for him to burrow under. Even when he was spicy they were so patient with him. And I saw the same level of care for every pet I saw throughout the 48 hours I came in. For such stressful situations, I cannot think of a better place or team than the VEG South Tampa. I hope I never need them again, but I’d trust them implicitly in any pet emergency.
Having to use an emergency vet is never something you want to do. It’s stressful and awful because one of your family members is very sick. Every single person at VEG makes it as pleasant and seamless as it can possibly be. We were seen immediately by the doctor who was nice, calm, reassuring, loving to my dog, and highly educated and knowledgeable. Honestly I wouldn’t care if they were mean as long as they knew what they were doing. However, here you get both. Every family that was there was also getting the same care. The ER is open floor plan so you are with the doctors and nurses and participating in your pets’ care. I like that aspect. I don’t like that you can also see what’s going on with other cases, because it’s distressing so see animals that are not going to make it and those families. Although, that’s similar at a regular ER as well. My dog was there because she ate something she wasn’t supposed to so we had a plan within 5 minutes, and were out of there in an hour. Every single person was so nice especially nurse Fred! He was a gem. You get an estimate up front before care which I liked because you know beforehand what it’s going to cost. As to the cost, it’s an emergency vet. It’s going to be a lot of money. If you don’t know that before deciding to make a lifelong commitment to a pet that this is something you may have to spend money on, then you might not want to get a pet. We have trupanion which ended up covering most of it anyways and the prices are pretty reasonable here. Overall I can’t recommend this place enough for emergency vet care. I’ve added a photo of my dog while in the ER to show a little of how the setup is. I didn’t want to include any other patients of their families.
Amazing facility and experience during a scary time as a pet parent. While traveling to Tampa my pup (small yorkie) needed to be seen for excessive vomiting and ended up needing emergency surgery to remove a piece of toy he had eaten a very long time ago. Dr. Mosley performed the procedure and her and the team at VEG were amazing! From the moment we walked in the door until he went home everyone there was amazing! I don’t have much experience with emergency veterinary services but I didn’t feel pressured into anything and they were very honest with me about why they recommended what they did and gave me potential outcomes of not doing or doing what was recommended. I think the cost of everything was fair and felt like they tried their best to keep cost as low as possible. The best part was that I could stay with him through every part of the process, I could have even watched the surgery if I wanted to but I chose not to. Just learned they also have a location in Seattle where I live and I will definitely see them if an emergency need arises again.
