I recently visited White Wolf Cafe for a solo dining experience. The hostess outside was nice and accommodating, finding me a seat at the bar.
First, I should mention that the bar area was extremely cold – so cold that another customer’s husband had to retrieve her jacket from their car shortly after being seated. This was concerning as I worried my food wouldn’t stay hot for long.
I ordered the country fried chicken with over medium eggs, home fries, and an Arnold Palmer. The country fried chicken was actually pretty great.
Unfortunately, the eggs were severely undercooked. I requested over medium (whites completely done, yolk slightly firm but still runny), but they were barely cooked – as if they’d been briefly dropped on a hot pan, flipped, and immediately removed. The home fries were also disappointing – not tender, undercooked, and completely unseasoned.
The service was another issue. My waitress seemed to have an attitude, particularly toward me. As a Black woman, I hesitate to make assumptions, but I couldn’t help noticing how perky and attentive she was with the white customers around me. When I asked for ketchup, she nodded her confirmation but got distracted talking to other customers and never brought it. After finally making eye contact again five minutes later, I could see her suddenly remember my request. She grabbed the ketchup and placed it on the bar without an apology. She just walked away.
When I was ready to leave, she said she’d send another bartender to check me out, but no one came. After catching her attention again, she handled my checkout herself – suddenly becoming very friendly and conversational as I was deciding on the tip amount.
I’m deducting one star for the service and another for the poorly prepared eggs (which should be hard to mess up) and home fries. While the country fried chicken was good, I’m not sure I’ll be returning.
Was in town visiting some family, and stopped in. I had a Bloody Mary, and a Caesar Salad. The Bloody Mary was a 10/10. The bartender did amazing. The Caesar Salad was a 8/10. It was flavorful and light. Very delicious.
Our waitress was sweet.
Definitely will be back next time we are in town.
Quirky and cozy vibes, delicious food, lovely service!
I had the crab cake sandwich with fries, which was incredible! The choice of white American complimented the crab nicely and fries were crispy and seasoned nicely.
The mimosa was a nice, classic bubbly drink and the espresso martini was creamy and bold.
Also, when they ask if you want
a cinnamon roll, the answer is DEFINITELY! Warm, gooey center with a good balance of cinnamon and icing. Not a bad thing about it!
Thanks for the stellar service. We will be back, for sure!
Ashley was our server and she was fantastic. She recommended the Baton Rouge burger and it did not disappoint. The home made chips and home made ranch were fantastic. The chef, Chasten even brought our food out. Everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I would definitely visit again for specific things like the cinnamon roll which was amazing and the biscuits and gravy. The rest of the food was ok. I felt it needed salt or seasoning. The indoor decor was beautiful and the service was fantastic. I’d definitely be open to trying new things from the menu and think it’s an Orlando staple. The parking is down the street across the street from imperial wine bar.
