I had an amazing birthday celebration in Hollywood Studios today. A friend of my husband’s gave me a ‘Today’s My Birthday’ button to wear inside the park. I had at least 50 ‘Cast Members’ wish me Happy Birthday. Everywhere we went they wished me Happy Birthday, while I was waiting in lines, in the shops looking at merch, and grabbing some food. They even gave me a little birthday cake with my meal. I don’t know how everyone knew I was wearing the button. It was just a medium sized button that I wore on my bag strap. It wasn’t easy to see, it did not have flashing lights! It REALLY made my day extra special. The park was super clean as were the restrooms. The lines weren’t long at all. We were all playing the Disney Play app which gave us plenty to do while we were waiting in lines (our ultimate fave is the Star Wars Data Pad that you can only play in Galaxy’s Edge/Hollywood Studios).
Out of the four parks at Disney World we chose to go here so my husband could enjoy the Star Wars rides and go on tower of terror, which is his favorite ride in Disneyland California. I was kind of surprised at the limited number of rides that seemed appropriate for kids. We didn’t have kids with us, but if we did, I don’t know how many rides they would have enjoyed. Most of them seemed too intense for young kids, but there were young kids everywhere so I guess it works for some people. We went on a beautiful day in February and the longest line was about an hour and the shortest was about 25 minutes. We paid extra for the genie passes, but they didn’t work very well so we could’ve skipped that. It ended up costing about $500 for the two of us for the day with admission, parking, genie passes, and a little food. We weren’t able to ride all the rides we wanted to in the 8 hours we were there. If I were to go back, I would just start at one end of the park and go from ride to ride to save time and energy. Trying to use the genie passes, made it a little more complicated and led to walking back-and-forth, which was very tiring. We enjoyed the day, but it wasn’t much different from the experience in Disneyland California, which is much closer to our home. That being said, we are not Disney fanatics so I’m sure some people love it! I always enjoy the people watching and the fun foods and novel aspects of Disney parks. It was certainly clean and it had that great Disney feel that they are always going for-you know the happiest place on earth vibe.
I was very pleased with the Star Wars area at Hollywood studios. Very well done. Both rides were excellent. Yes, we waited in line for both, but worth the time. Ate lunch at the Docking Bay 7, which was good and fairly quick. I wanted to see more shopping options…
A great park with much more of interest to older visitors. The highlight has to be Galaxies Edge, really worth a visit if you’re a Star Wars fan! Like all the parks it is very detailed and well maintained. Plenty of food and drink options here and very easy to navigate.
Lots of fun. Getting the lightning pass was worth it. The Disney World app is for the most part useful. Get to the Slinky Dog coaster early. Smugglers Run was a lot of fun. Indiana Jones was a blast. All of the cast members (staff) were outstanding. We will be going back. Also use the skyline. It was super fast and efficient.
