I took a chance on a Groupon deal for Essentials Spa and my experience was exceptional. This was my first Spa experience and it was delightful. Greg my masseuse was amazing and made my first massage appointment incredible. Everyone was incredibly professional and the facility was immaculate. Excellent value and fair prices for services and great prices for add on services. I will definitely be a regular customer from now on. I encourage you to give them a try with one of their fantastic Groupon offers. You will not be disappointed.

To start off, I had a feeling I wouldn’t enjoy this place based on how the appointment was booked over the phone. The lady on the other end seemed uninterested and only focused on booking the appointment for the money. I tried to set aside that feeling and give the place a chance, but I was definitely misled by the reviews and pictures. The ambiance was nice, but the fake candles, fake roses, cheap chocolates, and cheap wine were honestly shocking. The massages my husband and I received were far from worth $200, and the 50-minute session didn’t feel like it lasted that long. By the time we got to the room, it was 12:10, and we were out by 12:45. They also had the nerve to add a $30 tip. I never would have tipped that amount based on the service we got. The way they tried to make the place look upscale was tacky and cheap—it was far from what they were going for. Nice try, though. Overall, my experience was pretty disappointing, and I wanted to leave the entire time. The staff were friendly, but that’s the only positive thing about this place.

Profits over people, even on Valentine’s Day. They accepted my booking on 1/16 for a 90 min couples massage on Valentine’s Day for my wife and I. We both work in healthcare and it’s hard to arrange time off together for holidays. I was told I had to pay the entire price for the massage up front due to it being a holiday, so I did. I was excited to share with my wife we would splurge and have a massage for Valentine’s Day. So with work arranged I proceeded to find child care for our 2 children.

On 1/25, 9 days later, they tell me they now aren’t providing any massage options but their special on Valentine’s Day, which is a 60 min massage with alcohol and candle lighting. We don’t drink and candles affect my eyes so this did not interest us. We wanted to keep what we had booked. They told me over the phone they would move the massage to Monday. That is not Valentine’s Day. So I told them to put the cost back on my card and disappointed my wife with the news. Which after some more conversation they agreed. I get a txt on my phone from them once again offering the same Valentine’s Day massage for half, but instead gave me the same special price for Valentine’s Day which isn’t half and less massage time than our original booking.

Overall, it seems like they were willing to ruin our special occasion to be able to fit one more customer in. Profits over people. I don’t want to encourage a business that is willing to go back on paid for services for more potential money, even if it is a special holiday.

Bottom line, profits over people at this spa.

Dee gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had!!! She was kind, attentive to my needs, and frequently checked that pressure/technique was comfortable for me. The only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is because my boyfriend’s masseuse was not as attentive with checking if pressure/technique was okay for him.

Update: they said the manager would contact us about a partial refund. It’s been a week and there has been no response from them or a manager. They clearly lied to us about contacting the manager and reaching out. If I could leave 0 stars I would. DO NOT COME HERE!

This was our second time visiting Essential Spa Metro West for a couples massage, but unfortunately, it will be our last. The experience here is very hit or miss depending on which massage therapist you get.

My husband was lucky to have the same therapist I had during our previous visit—she was amazing. However, the therapist I was assigned this time was clearly inexperienced. She didn’t seem to understand pressure points and applied little to no pressure, despite my specific request for more focus on my shoulders. Instead of the massage I expected, it felt like she was simply rubbing lotion on me during the 40-minute session we received because we were late. In fact, they ended the service at 9:52, so even if we had been on time, the session would have been only 52 minutes long.

The receptionist tried to argue that being on time is important, but punctuality doesn’t make up for a lack of proper massage technique or understanding of pressure points. Additionally, the pre-questionnaire form wasn’t sent until 9:47—right in the middle of the massage—which further disrupted the experience. To add to the confusion, they claimed my husband booked the session as a sunrise massage, even though I was sitting right next to him when we made the booking.

We had booked this couples massage as a Valentine’s Day gift for each other, expecting a relaxing and rejuvenating experience that we had looked forward to for months. Unfortunately, only one of us actually received a satisfactory massage. The Valentine’s Day special also included what can only be described as cheap dollar store $1 chocolates and a bottle of wine that we didn’t even drink because we don’t drink.

After leaving Essential Spa Metro West, I decided to get an Asian massage at The Florida Mall, and it was far better than what I experienced here. It really sucks that I had to pay for a real massage after splurging on the one at Essential Spa.

When I expressed my disappointment at the front desk, they offered a 10% discount for a return visit—but since that discount is given to everyone after their session, it didn’t feel like a genuine attempt to make up for the poor service. When we asked for a partial refund, they said they needed to speak with their manager first. We are now waiting to see if they follow through, and I will update this review accordingly.

It’s disappointing that they appear to hire inexperienced therapists who clearly need more training, especially when clients are paying a premium price. Moreover, gratuity is already included in the cost—if it were up to me, I wouldn’t have left any tip. I walked in with aching shoulders and walked out feeling exactly the same. Definitely not worth the cost or the gamble of getting an unqualified therapist.
