This preservation has truly become a cherished destination. The gentle mini trail hikes, the informative displays, and the peaceful boardwalk all lead to a serene experience. As I stood at the pier, surrounded by the sights and sounds of wildlife, I found myself not wanting to leave. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who maintains this beautiful space and offers such enriching educational opportunities. A friendly reminder for those that visit please only leave behind your good vibes ✌️- happy adventuring!
Watch out for cyclists who don’t actually stop when they clearly have a stop sign right at the entrance where cars are entering from the highway.
Beautiful, peaceful, easy and well maintained short boardwalk trail that ends in a scenic view of the lake. This in one way in and one way out and not a loop, but there are plenty of benches along the way for those who need to rest or just take in the sights along the way. There are also lots of cool nature factoids along the boardwalk.
Restroom by the museuem/office area. The museum was closed although the signs said they are open around the time I was there.
This quiet walk out the boardwalk to Lake Apopka is great. You may even see an alligator at the end. The info signs tell you about the foliage and wildlife.
Great serene place to go for a walk by yourself to gather your thoughts or fun with the family seeing the baby gators or birds. Advise you to bring plenty of water per person as it is a good mile walk to the lake view with limited shade on the boardwalk along the way. They also have a six week 9-4 summer camp for under $200 per week for ages 6+. When camp is not in session the museum is literally a cool place to learn some more about the preserve and wildlife.
Very well maintained. The boardwalk has composit steps so there’s no walking on rotten lumber. Great birding area.
