The dumplings in chili oil were delicious. Still managed to have flavor beyond just spicy and were the perfect texture. Ordered medium Dan Dan Noodles but they were a tad too spicy for me (maybe because I just had the dumplings) but still very flavorful. The noodles had a very authentic taste and even the pork tasted good which I am generally not a fan of. The salt crispy chicken was okay, I feel like it should come with some sort of sauce. Service was good as well. My water glass (which I drank a lot of to handle the spice) was refilled many times without me having to ask. The prices are also very reasonable and the food came out at the perfect pace. I’m excited to come back and try more dishes!

A minute does make a difference.
Unaware they open at 5, when the door is locked, we decided to go to the Cantonese restaurant a few doors to the left. Unfortunately it closes on Tuesdays. So we turned around, heading to the Beijing House, which is to Red Bowl’s right. As we’re passing by RB, a couple goes in. Guess were we a few seconds early or late, would have missed their grand entrance, and our opportunity. A few seconds make a difference.
Good service and delicious food. We’ve mapo tofu and Dan Dan noodle.
One young girl is serving, who suggested to me to order mild for my noodles, even I told her that I enjoy jalapeño and wanted the medium. As it turned out, ‘mild’ degree tastes like no spicy at all; so the server brought me a little chilly powder.
The Dandan noodle, is delicious but it’s not authentic one I remembered. To be fair, theirs is like nearly all other restaurants, with soup, veggies … I thought it should be dry like Alfredo. Maybe what I remembered wasn’t the right way to do it due to lack of ingredients in Beijing at the time.
A Chinese lady (owner? Chef?) came out to social. She hugged the woman who came in first. Then came to our table, said “I heard your noodle isn’t spicy enough.” I told her that the powder works fine and thank her for taking the time to check on us. She then moves to the table behind us and chats in Mandarin with the young couple.
By the time we left, one more young Chinese couple came.
This is the second time coming here and the experience is so good. They are a small restaurant, but the quality of food is incredible. I first found this spot because I had been craving DanDan noodles- I hadn’t have a good bowl since visiting LA. They have a simple menu, but the quality of the food is the best. Each time I’ve been the chef comes to my table to make sure everything is to our liking. I can only say good things about this place. You have to be patient on busy nights though- it’s literally 2 people making all of the orders, so it can take some time. I promise it’s worth the wait! 10/10 best kept secret in Tampa.
Very authentic flavor of Szechuan food, I also ordered another rice bowl to go for my lunch tmr. Real and the best feedback from a Chinese. Love it! 祝老板生意兴隆！
