We went for an afternoon drink and a mid day snack at the family owned Rusty Bellies. I was amazed with the business of the restaurant during our stay from around 1-3pm. This restaurant is truly a snap shot of the past, it is reminiscent of what Florida used to be like before chain restaurants and tourist traps . We had the shrimp boil, crab cakes, crab rangoons and some shrimp tacos. The seafood was locally caught and very fresh. The shrimp, in the boil shrimp, were enormous and the serving size was around 20 shrimp. The atmosphere of the outdoor bar was great and the waterfront tables added to an already enjoyable day. The hush puppies were fantastic and some of the best I have ever had. My only complaint would be the service. I would think that the staff would be used to the steady pace of the business, but our waitress seemed a little distracted by the day. Overall, I feel this restaurant is as important to Tarpon Springs as Cafe Dumonde is to New Orleans. I cannot wait for a return visit on my next trip to the area.
We have gone to Rusty Bellies before & it is always a great experience. We went for Happy Hour & appetizers this time. Our Bartender Bobby was excellent. Our drinks were great. Our appetizers were so good. They give you complimentary. Hushpuppies that are the best. Be sure to check their happy hour specials 3pm to 6pm.
Average wait was about 40 minutes. It was totally worth the wait. Atmosphere – lovely. Service – good (except for the gal who told us that someone else will put us on the wait list). Food – awesome. Hush puppies – to die for. Food – Delicious! So glad that we dined here!
Amazing food! My crew mates and I ate here several times while our boat was docked. Every single dish we had was incredible. Best stone crabs we’ve ever had. The staff were all very kind. If I’m ever in town again, I’m definitely going here for dinner.
Parking at the restaurant is very limited. Parking is available within walking distance but it requires payment. Service is wonderful, very attentive and anticipated our every need. Food is very delicious and generous portions. Limited seated for a view of the river. Prices are reasonable.
