The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum in Orlando houses the world’s most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Its exhibits include stunning stained glass windows, intricate jewelry, decorative lamps, and the breathtaking chapel interior Tiffany designed for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. The museum was founded in 1942 and moved to its current location in Winter Park in 1995. It was established by Jeannette Genius McKean and named after her grandfather, a philanthropist and art collector.
One of the highlights is the restored Tiffany Chapel, featuring magnificent mosaics and a golden altar. The museum also showcases Tiffany’s experiments with glassmaking, including unique Favrile glass pieces. The atmosphere is quiet and contemplative, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the craftsmanship.
The museum has a well-curated gift shop offering reproductions of Tiffany designs, art books, jewelry, and decorative home items. Admission is affordable, and on select Fridays, entry is free in the evening. A must-visit for art lovers and those interested in the beauty of stained glass!
Gorgeous atmosphere, 100% wheelchair accessible. My friend brought his service dog and they were very welcoming and no one gave him an issue. On Fridays admission is free and they have live music.
As for the exhibits, the church exhibit was breathtaking, and they have benches to sit down and take everything in. The stained glass exhibits are worth taking the trip to Central Park alone, and we really enjoyed learning about the displays. If you enjoy artisanal work, you will be astounded.
Amazing small museum with big important art in multiple media types. Who knew Tiffany glass also did fabulous paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, as well as fine jewelry? Enjoy a few hours expanding your brain and appreciating all things bright and beautiful.
Loved this museum! Tiffany stained glass was what i came to see and everything was so beautiful. They also have handout talking about the different eras of artwork and there are also audio guides (requires phone and internet, but wifi complimentary) for certain items. The audio guides are admittedly VERY dry and not that engaging. There is also other artwork on display at the museum and a small collection of jewelry dispersed throughout which was a nice surprise. Street parking available nearby. It is $6 to enter and ?1$ for students. Great value!
